Lily Ann Carol
Lily Ann Carol (1923–1999) was an American big-band and popular singer, renowned for being the first vocalist with Louis Prima's orchestra from 1939 to 1946. Born in the Weequahic section of Newark, New Jersey, Carol began her singing career as a teenager and was discovered by Louis Prima. She became a defining voice in his orchestra, contributing to several recordings and performances, including engagements at the Apollo Theater in Harlem. Her stone-faced singing style was later emulated by Keely Smith.

In 1946, Carol left Prima's band to pursue a solo career, recording with Charlie Ventura and performing on the nightclub circuit. She recorded for various labels, including Signature Records, RCA Victor, and Mercury Records, throughout the late 1940s and 1950s. Her television appearances included shows like the Arthur Murray Party and the Steve Allen Show.

Carol married saxophonist and singer Joe Barone in 1966, and together they formed a duo act, performing at venues such as the Concord Hotel and Jilly's. They recorded two LP albums, "Souvenir" and "Live From Jupiter's." Carol continued to perform until 1990, leaving a legacy of recordings that were later compiled and released in 2021 by Jasmine Records.

Lily Ann Carol passed away in 1999 and was entombed at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Long Island, New York, alongside her husband Joe Barone.
