Earl Green
Earl Green was a distinguished black British blues singer, born in Jamaica and relocated to England at the age of 13. He was deeply influenced by American-style R&B and began his singing career in the 1970s. In 1986, Green co-founded Otis Grand & the Dance Kings, and after leaving the group in 1994, he established the Earl Green Band, with which he extensively toured England and Ireland. His remarkable contributions to the blues genre earned him the British Blues Connection's Male Vocalist Award in 1996 and 1997, and the Blues in Britain Vocalist Award in 2000 and 2002. Green was a vibrant figure in the British blues scene for nearly four decades until his retirement due to ill health. He passed away on May 6, 2020, leaving behind a legacy celebrated by many in the blues community.
