Fabio Pianigiani is a distinguished Italian musician and musicologist, known for his contributions to various musical genres and his innovative approach to sound and music therapy. Born in Siena, Italy, Pianigiani began his musical journey at a young age, performing at the university circle Il Gavinone in Siena when he was just under 15. He pursued a degree in Musicology, graduating in 1980, and subsequently honed his skills in guitar and composition through studies in England and the United States, attending workshops and courses at prestigious institutions such as the Manhattan School of Music and Mannes College of Music.
In the 1980s, Pianigiani gained significant recognition through his collaboration with Italian rock singer Gianna Nannini, contributing to the success of her album "Profumo" and its subsequent world tour. He also worked as a composer and artistic producer for artists like Donatella Rettore, Riccardo Fogli, Alice, Franco Battiato, and Ombretta Colli.
Pianigiani's career is marked by his dual passion for music and research, particularly in the field of sound's impact on meditation and well-being. He co-founded the Centro Studi Bhaktivedanta in 1993, focusing on the study of Vedic culture and the relationship between sound and meditation. His exploration of diverse musical repertoires includes compositions for video, theater, contemporary dance, and unique soundtracks.
Throughout his career, Pianigiani has been involved in music education, teaching at the University of Siena and other institutions. His compositions often reflect a blend of influences, from American panoramas to Tuscan roots, resulting in a sound that is both solar and emotional, Mediterranean and oriental. Notable works include "Fonte Gaia," a thematic piece on water, and "Blu Etrusco," a CD commissioned by the Santa Maria della Scala museum in Siena.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Pianigiani has engaged in music therapy, collaborating with Dr. Franco Cracolici to produce CDs related to Chinese medicine's five movements. He has also received advanced training in Indovedic Psychology and sound therapy, further enriching his multifaceted career in music and sound exploration.
