Doug Rasheed, born Douglas B. Rasheed on February 14, 1963, in San Diego, California, is a renowned American music producer, songwriter, composer, and arranger. He is best known for his work in the hip-hop and R&B genres. Rasheed gained international fame for producing and co-writing the Grammy-winning, multi-platinum single "Gangsta's Paradise" for rapper Coolio in 1995. This song became a global megahit, propelling Coolio to international fame and selling over 4 million copies that year. Rasheed's significant contributions to the track earned him a Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
In addition to his work with Coolio, Rasheed is also recognized for his collaborations with legendary rapper Tupac Shakur, having co-written and produced tracks such as "I'd Ratha Be Ya N.I.G.G.A." and "Only God Can Judge Me" from the album "All Eyez On Me," which sold over ten million copies worldwide. He also worked with his ex-wife, Chaka Khan, on her Grammy-nominated single "Will You Love Me."
Rasheed's career began in Tokyo, Japan, where he performed in clubs for two years before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the music industry.
