Adolfo Utrera
Adolfo Utrera, born Adolfo J. Germán Pérez de Utrera y Fernández on May 28, 1901, in Havana, Cuba, was a renowned tenor singer and composer. He is best known for his contribution to the bolero genre, particularly through the song "Aquellos Ojos Verdes" ("Green Eyes"), which he co-wrote with Cuban pianist Nilo Menéndez in 1929. This song became a significant hit in Cuba and later gained popularity in the Latin community in New York. Utrera's work has been widely covered, with "Aquellos Ojos Verdes" being interpreted by numerous artists over the years. He was affiliated with the Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers (SGAE) and had several works registered under his name. Adolfo Utrera passed away in New York City on December 3, 1931.
