Ralph Freed
Ralph Freed was a Canadian-born American lyricist and television producer, born on May 1, 1907, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He passed away on February 13, 1973, in Los Angeles, California, USA. Freed was educated at Hollywood High School and became a prominent figure in the music and entertainment industry during the "Golden Age" of Hollywood.

As a songwriter, Freed was under contract with major studios such as MGM, Universal, and Paramount. He joined the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1931. His collaborations with notable composers like Sammy Fain, Burton Lane, and Harry Barris resulted in several popular songs. Among his best-known works are "How About You?", which earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Song, "Hawaiian War Chant", and "Adios Amigo". Other notable compositions include "Little Dutch Mill", "Who Walks in When I Walk Out?", "Mama Don't Allow It", and "You Leave Me Breathless".

In addition to his songwriting career, Freed transitioned into television production in 1954, further establishing his influence in the entertainment industry. He was the brother of Arthur Freed, a well-known producer and songwriter, and had several other siblings, including Victor, Hugo, Sidney, Walter, Ruth, and Clarence. Ralph Freed's contributions to music and television left a lasting impact on American entertainment.
