Jurandir
Jurandir Santana is a renowned guitarist from Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, born in 1970. He began his musical journey at the age of ten, focusing on popular guitar. Over his 25-year career, Santana has become a pivotal figure in Brazilian music, known for his impressive technique and unique style that blends traditional Brazilian rhythms with contemporary jazz.

Throughout the mid-1990s, Santana was actively involved in the Jazz MAM project, collaborating with notable artists such as Nico Assunção and Delmar Brown. In 1999, he performed with guitarist Nelson Veras and participated in the Terça do Jazz project. His career gained momentum in 2000 when he won the Brazilian music prize by Itau Cultural and recorded a CD with various Brazilian artists.

Santana's international collaborations include performances with American saxophonists David Richards and Grant Stewart. He has also been recognized for his work in festivals, winning the Caymmi Award for best arrangement in 2002. His debut album, "Só Brasil," released in 2006, won the Braskem music award and was acclaimed as the best instrumental music album by Dinamite Magazine.

In addition to his recording achievements, Santana has toured extensively, performing in Europe and the United States, and has been a music director for the Yabas percussion group. He has worked with prominent Brazilian artists such as Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, and Rosa Passos, further cementing his status as a leading figure in Brazilian music.

Santana's dedication to music extends to education, having taught workshops at prestigious institutions like Berklee College of Music. His contributions to Brazilian music and his ability to innovate within the genre have made him a respected and influential musician on the global stage.
