Jose Manzo Perroni
José Manzo Perroni was a Venezuelan composer, known primarily for his involvement in the creation of the song "Moliendo Café" ("Grinding Coffee"). The song, written in 1958, became a global hit and is famously associated with a dispute over its authorship. According to some accounts, the song was composed by his nephew, Hugo Blanco, who was underage at the time and asked Perroni to register the work on his behalf. However, Perroni later claimed that he was the true composer and accused Blanco of stealing the melody. Despite this controversy, "Moliendo Café" achieved significant popularity, with Blanco's 1961 recording reaching No. 1 in Argentina and Japan. The song has since been covered by numerous artists and has become a popular football chant worldwide. José Manzo Perroni's legacy is closely tied to this iconic piece of music, which continues to resonate with audiences globally.
