Carl White
Carl Lester White, born on June 21, 1932, in Los Angeles, California, was a prominent American vocalist known for his work in the doo-wop genre. He was a key member of several vocal groups, including The Rivingtons, The Lamplighters, and The Sharps. White is best remembered for co-writing the 1962 novelty hit "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow," which became a defining track for The Rivingtons. The song, known for its catchy nonsense syllables, gained further fame when it was incorporated into "Surfin' Bird" by The Trashmen.

Throughout his career, Carl White contributed to the success of various groups and was involved in the music scene through the 1960s. Despite the challenges in maintaining chart success, his work with The Rivingtons left a lasting impact on the music industry, particularly through the enduring popularity of "Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow" and its influence on later rock bands.

Carl White passed away on January 7, 1980, at the age of 47, due to acute tonsillitis. His legacy continues through the music he helped create, which remains celebrated by fans of doo-wop and early rock and roll.
