F.W Meacham
Frank White Meacham (May 31, 1856 – December 22, 1909) was an American composer and arranger associated with Tin Pan Alley. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Meacham spent much of his life in New York City, where he became known for his military marches, tribute pieces, and early ragtime compositions. His most renowned work is the march "American Patrol," originally composed for piano in 1885 and later arranged for wind band by Carl Fischer in 1891. This piece gained further popularity through arrangements by Jerry Gray for Glenn Miller's swing band and by composer Morton Gould.

Throughout his career, Meacham produced a variety of works, including "Dance of the Fairies: Polka Rondo" (1886), "Grand Fantasia on the Famous Theme of the Mocking Bird" (1905), and "Marching Through Georgia" (1908). He also collaborated with Stephen Collins Foster on pieces like "Old Black Joe" and "Old Folks at Home." Meacham's contributions to music continued to be recognized posthumously, with his works being performed and recorded by various artists.

Meacham passed away in New York City due to pneumonia and was laid to rest in the Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands, New York. His legacy endures through his compositions, which continue to be celebrated for their melodic and rhythmic vitality.
