Johnny Lange
Johnny Lange, born John George Lange on August 15, 1905, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was a prominent American songwriter known for his work in the motion picture industry. He began his career in film studios in 1937 and became a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1940. After a brief hiatus during World War II, Lange resumed his film music career in 1946 and 1947, collaborating with notable figures such as Lew Porter, Archie Gottler, and Jack Meskill.

Lange's songwriting prowess earned him an Academy Award nomination in 1950 for "Mule Train," featured in the film "Singing Guns." He is credited with composing 211 songs, including popular titles like "Blue Shadows on the Trail" and "Clancy Lowered the Boom." In addition to his film work, Lange wrote special material for night club singers and the "Ice Capades of 1950."

Lange's contributions to music extended beyond film, with compositions such as "I Left My Sugar in Salt Lake City" and "Somebody Bigger Than You or I." His daughter, Hope Lange, became a well-known actress. Johnny Lange passed away on January 6, 2006, in Los Angeles, California, at the age of 100.
