Francia Lubin
Francia Lubin, born on December 1, 1912, in Kyiv, then part of the Russian Empire, was an American songwriter of Russian origin who passed away in December 1987 in New York City. She became a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1940. Lubin was known for her popular Latin-themed song compositions, which include titles such as "Say Si Si," "Tango of Roses," "Gay Desperado," "Altenitas," "Orticinas," "La Chaparrita," "On the Beach of Havana," "Champagne Tango," and "El Choclo." Despite her Russian origins, her music did not reflect her heritage, instead embracing a Latin style.
