Nat Simon
Nat Simon (August 6, 1900 – September 5, 1979) was an American composer, pianist, bandleader, and songwriter born in Newburgh, New York. He led his own orchestra after high school and moved to New York City to further his career. From the 1930s to the 1950s, his compositions were featured in over 20 films. Simon was also part of the musical Vaudeville revue "Songwriters on Parade" between 1931 and 1940, which showcased popular songwriters of the time. His daughter, Sally Simon Meisel, contributed to his live performances as a vocalist. Some of his notable songs include "Poinciana" (1936), "The Old Lamp-Lighter" (1946), "An Apple Blossom Wedding" (1947), "The Mama Doll Song" (1954), "Sandy's Tune" (1954), and "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" (1953). Simon passed away in Queens, New York.
