Eddie Lane
Eddie Lane was an American songwriter, violinist, and bandleader, best known for his work in the mid-20th century. He gained recognition for co-writing the song "Bless You, for Being an Angel" with Don Baker, which became a popular hit recorded by over 30 artists, including The Ink Spots, Fats Waller, and Glenn Miller. The song charted at #15 in the U.S. in 1939. Lane was active in the music scene from the 1930s through the 1950s, leading a nine-piece orchestra in the New York City area. Beyond his songwriting, he served as the director of public relations for Muzak and later became the managing director of the Berkshire Hotel. His contributions to music are documented in various recordings and his influence is noted in the jazz and dance band scenes of his time.
