William H. Tyers
William Henry Tyers was an American pianist and composer renowned for his contributions to ragtime music. Born on March 27, 1870, in Virginia, shortly after the American Civil War, Tyers gained recognition for his compositions and arrangements. He notably arranged pieces such as Tom Turpin's "Harlem Rag" in 1899 and Scott Joplin's "The Sycamore" in 1910. His career saw a significant boost when he began working as an arranger for the New York City publishing firm Joseph W. Stern in 1897. Among his compositions is "Maori: A Samoan Dance," published in 1909. William H. Tyers passed away on April 18, 1924, in New York.
