Vic Mizzy
Victor Mizzy, known professionally as Vic Mizzy, was an American composer, pianist, harpsichordist, and singer born on January 9, 1916, in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away on October 17, 2009, in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California. Mizzy is best remembered for composing the iconic themes for the 1960s television sitcoms "Green Acres" and "The Addams Family."

Mizzy began playing piano at the age of 13 and was part of his high school orchestra, which included future top studio musicians. He attended New York University at 16 and collaborated with a lyric partner from Brooklyn, writing songs and sketches for variety shows. During World War II, Mizzy served in the U.S. Navy, where he continued to write hit songs.

His songwriting career spanned several decades, with notable hits like "My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time," which reached #1 in the U.S. in 1945. Mizzy's compositions were performed by artists such as Doris Day, the Andrews Sisters, and the Mills Brothers. He also composed scores for films and TV shows, including several Don Knotts films and the William Castle films.

Mizzy was married to singer Mary Small and was known for negotiating his own contracts, maintaining the publishing rights to his work throughout his career.
