Nat Farber
Nat Farber was an American composer, pianist, and arranger, born on January 20, 1918, in Chicago, Illinois. He pursued his musical education at the Chicago Musical College and the Los Angeles Conservancy, studying under notable musicians Ernst Toch and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. Farber's career spanned several television shows and film studios, including RKO, Columbia, and Walt Disney. He was particularly known for his work on the "Dina Shore Show" (1959-1963), the "Danny Kaye Show" (1963-1967), and the "Carol Burnett Show" (1967-1975). He joined the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1958, collaborating primarily with Paul Weston. Farber worked with a variety of artists, including Joel Gray, Mickey Katz, Edgar Bergen, Johnny Carson, Andy Williams, Barbra Streisand, Shirley MacLaine, and The Jackson Five. He married Irene Gandel in May 1948, and they had a son named David Alan, born on December 30, 1952. Farber passed away on September 14, 1975, in Los Angeles, California. His music arrangements are archived in the UCLA Music Library.
