From 1977 to 1985, he played with the Suffolk Bell and Horseshoe Band and was a founding member of the New Mexborough English Concertina Quartet from 1984 to 1988. Miles collaborated with songwriter Richard Grainger from 1988 to 1992 while also pursuing a solo career. He recorded "The Dunmow Flitch" with his then-wife Sue Miles, featuring traditional English music and Jez Lowe. His album "Home Routes" includes Pete Coe's "The Alimony Run," and "Playing For Time" showcases a mix of songs, including works by Lennon and McCartney and Robert Johnson.
