George Enescu
George Enescu, also known as Georges Enesco in France, was a prominent Romanian composer, violinist, pianist, conductor, teacher, and statesman, born on August 19, 1881, in Liveni-Vârnav, Kingdom of Romania. He passed away on May 4, 1955, in Paris, France, and was buried at Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris. Enescu is celebrated as one of the greatest musicians in Romanian history.

A child prodigy, Enescu began composing at a very young age, with his earliest surviving work being composed at the age of five. He was admitted to the Vienna Conservatory at the age of seven, where he studied under renowned teachers such as Joseph Hellmesberger Jr., Robert Fuchs, and Sigismund Bachrich. Enescu graduated at the age of 12 and continued his studies in Paris, where he studied composition and violin.

Enescu's notable works include the Romanian Rhapsodies and his opera Oedipe, which incorporates national themes. He was highly regarded for his interpretations of Bach and his eclectic compositions, which included chamber works, symphonies, and orchestral pieces. In addition to his musical achievements, Enescu served as a member of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of Romania.

Throughout his life, Enescu was recognized for his contributions to music and his influence on the Romanian school of composers. He was also a respected violin teacher and left a lasting legacy in the world of classical music.
