Al Lewis
Al Lewis, born in 1984 in Pwllheli, Wales, is a Welsh singer-songwriter known for his contributions to the folk and pop genres, particularly within the Welsh language music scene. He gained initial recognition in 2007 when his song "Llosgi" (Burning), co-composed with Arwel Lloyd Owen, secured second place in the Cân i Gymru competition. That same year, he released his first Welsh language EP, "Byw Mewn Breuddwyd," and performed at notable festivals such as Wakestock and the inaugural Sŵn Festival in Cardiff.

In 2009, Lewis released his debut Welsh language album "Sawl Ffordd Allan," which topped the C2 Radio Cymru Welsh language chart. He also collaborated with Sarah Howells of Paper Aeroplanes on the "Skin & Bones" EP. Their partnership was praised for its cinematic melodies akin to James Blunt or Simon and Garfunkel. Lewis's first English language album, "In the Wake," came out in 2010, followed by "Battles" in 2013, which was produced by Charlie Peacock and recorded in Nashville. His music often features backing vocals from Howells and includes a re-recorded version of "Llosgi."

Lewis has been active in the music scene since 2007, releasing multiple albums and EPs, both in Welsh and English. His work with Alva Leigh as part of the duo Lewis & Leigh resulted in the 2016 album "Ghost." His music frequently plays on BBC Radio 2, and he has headlined events like Sesiwn Fawr in Dolgellau. In 2024, he released the album "Fifteen Years," which explores themes of grief and loss, inspired by the passing of his father. Through his music and personal experiences, Lewis engages in discussions about mental health and healing, making a significant impact on his audience.
