He is an influential English artist and musician renowned for his work as one-half of the electronic music duo The KLF and as a co-founder of The Orb. Cauty began his career in the early 1980s, playing guitar for bands such as Angels 1–5 and Brilliant. His collaboration with Bill Drummond led to the formation of The Justified Ancients of Mu Mu (the JAMs), which evolved into The KLF, achieving global success with hits like "Doctorin' the Tardis" and albums such as "Chill Out" and "The White Room."
