Oscar Feltsman
Oscar Borisovich Feltsman was a renowned Ukrainian-born composer, celebrated for his contributions to Russian music. Born on February 18, 1921, in Odesa, Ukrainian SSR, Feltsman was a child prodigy who began his musical education at the age of five, learning violin under Pyotr Stolyarsky and piano with Bertha Reynbald. By six, he composed his first piano piece, "Autumn." He graduated from the Pyotr Stolyarsky Music School in 1939 and continued his studies at the Moscow Conservatory under Vissarion Shebalin.

During World War II, Feltsman was evacuated to Novosibirsk, where he served as executive secretary of the Siberian Union of Composers and composed for various theaters. Returning to Moscow in 1945, he expanded his repertoire to include musical comedies, operettas, and popular songs, collaborating with prominent Russian poets and performers. His notable works include operettas like "Air Castle" and songs performed by artists such as Leonid Utyosov and Joseph Kobzon.

Feltsman was honored with several prestigious awards, including the title of People’s Artist of the RSFSR in 1989 and multiple Orders "For Merit to the Fatherland." He passed away on February 3, 2013, in Moscow and was laid to rest in the Novodevichy Cemetery. His legacy continues through his compositions and his son, Vladimir Feltsman, a distinguished pianist.
