Boris Sheremetev
Boris Sergeevich Sheremetev (1822–1906) was a Russian composer from the Romantic era, known for his contributions to Russian music. Born in Moscow in the Russian Empire, he was a member of the prominent Sheremetev family, with his father being Sergey Sheremetev and his mother Varvara Almazova. Boris Sheremetev is best known for his musical setting of Alexander Pushkin's poem "I Loved You" ("Я Вас любил"), which has been recorded by artists such as Dmitri Hvorostovsky. He was married to Olga Shipova and had several children, including Sergey, Nikolay, Boris, Vasily, and Darya Sheremetev. Sheremetev passed away on December 28, 1906, and was buried at the Novospassky Monastery. His work remains a part of the rich tapestry of Russian classical music.
