Dub Williams
Dub Williams, born James Pebworth on November 26, 1927, in Bogalusa, Louisiana, was an American guitarist and songwriter. He is best known for co-writing the classic song "Release Me" alongside Eddie Miller and Robert Yount. Throughout his career, Williams often used the pseudonyms Dub Williams and Robert Harris on various releases. Despite his contributions to music, a notable incident in his career involved the replacement of his name with the pseudonym W.S. Stevenson on the song "Release Me" in 1957, due to an agreement with Four Star Records entrepreneur William McCall.
Williams passed away on October 27, 2014. His work as a composer continued to be recognized posthumously, with credits on numerous albums by artists such as Engelbert Humperdinck, Kitty Wells, and Jerry Lee Lewis, among others. His influence and legacy live on through the many recordings that feature his compositions.
