Pierluigi Giombini
Pierluigi Giombini, born on December 11, 1956, in Rome, Italy, is a renowned Italian songwriter and record producer, celebrated for his significant contributions to the Italo disco genre. Coming from a family deeply rooted in music, his father, Marcello Giombini, was a composer interested in electronic music, and his grandfather was a music professor and oboist with the Santa Cecilia orchestra. This rich musical heritage influenced Giombini from an early age, leading him to study piano and composition at the conservatory in Rome.

While his formal education was in classical music, Giombini was also inspired by 1970s progressive rock bands, particularly Emerson, Lake & Palmer, and the electronic compositions of Wendy Carlos. Carlos' "Switched-On Bach" albums motivated him to explore synth sounds, which became a hallmark of his work in the 1980s.

Giombini's career took off in 1980 with a collaboration with Natasha King, and he achieved his first major success in 1982 with Gazebo's "Masterpiece." He is best known for composing, arranging, and producing Gazebo's international hit "I Like Chopin," along with other Italo disco classics like Ryan Paris' "Dolce Vita," Gary Low's "You Are a Danger," and Gazebo's "Lunatic." These works solidified his reputation as one of the leading figures in the Italo disco movement.

Throughout his career, Giombini has continued to utilize both hardware and software synthesizers for his projects, including his current work under the alias 'Web.' Despite the changing music landscape, his influence and contributions to the genre remain significant.
