Shalva Mosidze
Shalva Illarionovich Mosidze, born on December 28, 1936, in Chiatura, Georgian SSR, is a distinguished Soviet and Georgian choral conductor and professor. He is renowned for founding the Gori Women's Choir in 1970, where he served as the artistic director and conductor for 43 years until 2013. Under his leadership, the choir gained international acclaim, touring countries such as France, Spain, Japan, Germany, and many others. The choir's repertoire includes works by both Georgian and European composers, and it has won numerous international choral music competitions.

Mosidze's educational background includes graduating from the Tbilisi State Conservatory, where he studied choral conducting under Vakhtang Paliashvili. He later became a professor at the same conservatory, contributing significantly to the field of choral music education. His notable students include Giorgi Zhordania, Archil Ushveridze, and Teona Tsiramua, among others.

Throughout his career, Mosidze has received several prestigious awards and honors. In 1988, he was named People's Artist of the Georgian SSR, and he has been a recipient of the Zakharia Paliashvili Prize, the Order of Honor, and the Order of the Golden Fleece, among others. In 2013, he was awarded the Shota Rustaveli Prize and was named an Honorary Citizen of Gori. Mosidze continues to reside in Tbilisi with his wife, Tamara Rcheulishvili, and they have two sons.
