Audrey Allison
Audrey Allison is an American songwriter known for her collaborative work with her husband, Joe Allison. Together, they co-wrote several successful songs in the late 1950s and 1960s, including the notable hits "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young" and "He'll Have to Go." The latter, recorded by Jim Reeves, became a significant crossover hit in 1959, reaching #2 overall, #1 on the country charts, #13 on the R&B charts, and #12 in the U.K. Audrey and Joe Allison also co-wrote the answer song "He'll Have to Stay," which was a hit for Jeanne Black the same year. Audrey charted as a songwriter six times in the U.S. and twice in the U.K., often in collaboration with her husband and other songwriters. In addition to her songwriting career, Audrey Allison is also recognized as a Detroit-based percussionist and storyteller, who has been playing the drums for over 50 years. She is dedicated to fostering understanding through music and storytelling, often performing with a variety of musical instruments from around the world. Audrey's passion for music was influenced by her early exposure to jazz through her mother's and uncle's collection of albums.
