Teddy Stauffer
Ernst Heinrich "Teddy" Stauffer, born on May 2, 1909, in Murten, Fribourg, Switzerland, was a prominent Swiss bandleader, musician, actor, nightclub owner, and restaurateur. Known as Germany's "swing-king" of the 1930s, Stauffer founded the "Original Teddies" band in Bern, which gained significant popularity in Berlin during the 1936 Olympic Games. The band was renowned for its performances of American swing music, drawing comparisons to Benny Goodman. Despite facing challenges from the Reichsmusikkammer due to the Nazi regime's disapproval of jazz, Stauffer's band achieved international fame with performances in St. Moritz, Arosa, and London, and recorded successful tracks like "Goody Goody" and "Jeepers Creepers."

With the outbreak of World War II in 1939, Stauffer returned to Switzerland. After the war, he emigrated to the United States and later settled in Acapulco, Mexico, where he became a hotel manager and played a pivotal role in promoting the city as a luxury resort destination, earning him the nickname "Mr. Acapulco." Stauffer was also known for his personal life, having been married five times, including to actresses Faith Domergue and Hedy Lamarr. He passed away in Acapulco on August 27, 1991, at the age of 82.
