Bent Fabricius-Buerre
Bent Fabricius-Bjerre, internationally known as Bent Fabric, was a celebrated Danish pianist and composer born on December 7, 1924, in Frederiksberg, Denmark. He began his career as a jazz pianist and graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Music. In 1950, he founded Metronome Records and released a series of albums under the pseudonym Frank Barcley. He gained international fame with his 1961 instrumental "Omkring et flygel," later known as "Alley Cat," which became a hit in Denmark and the United States, reaching No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a Grammy Award for Best Rock & Roll Recording.

Fabricius-Bjerre was also a prolific composer for film and television, contributing scores to numerous Danish films and TV series, including the iconic "Olsen-banden" and "Matador." His work in film music led to several Danish classics, such as "Forelsket i København" and "Jeg Sætter Min Hat Som Jeg Vil."

In 2003, he returned to the charts in Denmark with the album "Jukebox," collaborating with Danish musicians and achieving dance music success in the US. Bent Fabricius-Bjerre passed away on July 28, 2020, leaving behind a rich legacy in both Danish and international music. He was married three times and was honored in 2018 by having a new beetle species named after him.
