Edward Robinson
Edward Robinson, a Midlands-born baritone, has established himself as a prominent figure in the world of opera. His musical journey began at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he studied as the Oglesby Trust and Drapers de Turckheim Scholar under the guidance of renowned baritone Quentin Hayes. Robinson's passion for opera has led him to perform in a variety of innovative productions, taking on roles such as Pilgrim in "The Pilgrim's Progress," Marco in "Gianni Schicchi," and Don Pedro in "Much Ado About Nothing," among others. His performances have graced stages at prestigious festivals and venues, including the Dorset Opera Festival and The Buxton International Festival.
As a baritone soloist, Robinson has performed at esteemed venues like the Opéra Comique in Paris and Birmingham Symphony Hall. His concert repertoire includes works such as Brahms' Requiem, Fauré’s Requiem, and Handel's Messiah. He also premiered a solo work at the Leeds Lieder Festival in 2017 and is active in giving recitals through Live Music Now. Robinson's ensemble experience includes performances of Schoenberg’s "Gurrelieder" and Berlioz's "Requiem" in Norway and Manchester.
Upon graduating, Robinson was awarded the Robin Kay Memorial Prize for Opera Singing, recognizing his promising career in opera. He has also received accolades such as The Brigitte Fassbaender Award for Lieder and the Staffordshire Young Singer of the Year. Beyond performing, Robinson is committed to educational and outreach initiatives, leading vocal workshops and assisting choirs through organizations like Chango Music and Clonter Opera Outreach.
