Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey, born on March 27, 1969, in Huntington, New York, is a renowned American singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress, celebrated for her extraordinary five-octave vocal range and melismatic singing style. She gained fame with her self-titled debut album in 1990, becoming the only artist to have their first five singles reach number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her albums Music Box (1993) and Daydream (1995) achieved international success, and she later embraced hip hop influences with Butterfly (1997).

Carey is often referred to as the "Songbird Supreme" and the "Queen of Christmas," the latter due to her iconic holiday hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You." Despite a career setback with the film Glitter (2001), she made a triumphant return with The Emancipation of Mimi (2005), which was one of the best-selling albums of the 21st century. She has released several more albums, with Caution (2018) and Here for It All (2025) receiving critical acclaim.

Throughout her career, Carey has sold over 220 million records globally, making her one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Her accolades include 5 Grammy Awards and numerous other honors. She holds the record for the most Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles by a solo artist. Beyond music, Carey has acted in films, co-founded Camp Mariah, and authored a memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which topped The New York Times Best Seller list. She was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and was named one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world in 2008.
