Rustavi Folk Choir
The Rustavi Folk Choir, officially known as the State Academic Ensemble Rustavi of Georgian Folk Song and Dance, was founded in 1968 by Anzor Erkomaishvili, a notable singer and folklorist from a prominent Georgian musical family. The ensemble is renowned for its performances that include Georgian polyphonic singing, characterized by rich, overlapping harmonies, and traditional dances. The Rustavi Folk Choir has toured over 50 countries, earning acclaim for its ethnographically authentic music that transcends regional styles while maintaining a concert-oriented presentation.

The ensemble's performances are distinguished by their powerful and refined sound, achieved by simplifying complex scales to create clearer harmonies. The Rustavi Choir's dedication to preserving and recreating authentic voicings has been recognized internationally, earning them the UNESCO Pacha Prize in 2001 for their efforts in safeguarding Georgian polyphonic singing.

The Rustavi Folk Choir has released several recordings, including the CD "Mirangula" in 1998, which features the globally recognized folk love song "Tsintskaro." The ensemble has undergone leadership changes, with Giorgi Natroshvili appointed as artistic director in 2019, followed by Davit Shanidze in 2023, and Mikheil Javakhishvili in 2025. The ensemble continues to be a prominent ambassador of Georgian cultural heritage through its music and dance.
