Edgar Jones
Edgar William Jones, born on December 4, 1970, in Liverpool, England, is an influential English musician known for his work as a singer-songwriter and instrumentalist. Often performing under the alias Edgar Summertyme, Jones has been a pivotal figure in the Liverpool music scene since the early 1990s.

Jones first gained prominence as the bass player and vocalist for The Stairs, a band he formed with Ged Lynn and Paul Maguire. The Stairs were known for their 1960s-inspired sound, blending English beat, garage rock, blues rock, and psychedelic influences. Their album "Mexican R'n'B" achieved cult status, although the band dissolved in 1994.

Following The Stairs, Jones was involved with several other bands, including The Isrites and The Big Kids, collaborating with future members of The Zutons. Despite not releasing albums during their active years, some of their material was later issued on compilations by The Viper Label.

Jones embarked on a solo career, releasing his first solo album "Soothing Music for Stray Cats" in 2005 under the name Edgar "Jones" Jones. This album, which incorporated elements of jazz, R&B, soul, and doo-wop, received praise from notable figures like Noel Gallagher. He continued to explore diverse musical styles with subsequent releases, including "Gettin' a Little Help from The Joneses" and "The Masked Marauder."

In addition to his solo work, Jones formed the blues-rock trio Free Peace in 2008, releasing an album titled "Stormy Weather" in 2011. He has also been an in-demand session musician, collaborating with artists such as Ian McCulloch, Paul Weller, Saint Etienne, and Ocean Colour Scene.

Jones's influence and contributions to music were further recognized with the release of his album "The Song of Day and Night" in 2017 on Skeleton Key Records, which was celebrated as his best work since "Soothing Music for Stray Cats." Throughout his career, Jones has been known for his skillful musicianship and his ability to blend various musical genres, making him a respected figure in the music industry.
