René Dif
René Dif, born on October 17, 1967, in Copenhagen, Denmark, is a Danish musician, singer-songwriter, DJ, and actor. He is best known as the male lead vocalist of the Eurodance group Aqua, which gained international fame in the late 1990s. Dif's father was Algerian, and his mother was Danish, and he grew up with two younger brothers and a sister. He left school after ninth grade and began working on a cruise ship, which led to his exposure to diverse cultures and ignited his passion for music.
In 1994, while working as a DJ in Norway, Dif met Lene Nystrøm on a cruise ship and invited her to join him, Claus Norreen, and Søren Rasted in forming the band Aqua. The group achieved massive success with hits like "Barbie Girl," "Doctor Jones," and "Turn Back Time," selling over 28 million records worldwide and earning numerous gold and platinum certifications.
After Aqua disbanded in 2001, Dif pursued a solo career, releasing singles such as "Let It All Out (Push It)" and "The Uhh Uhh Song," and ventured into acting, appearing in Danish films like "The Good Cop" and "The Collector." Aqua reunited in 2008, releasing new music and performing live.
