Sammy Gallop
Sammy Gallop (March 16, 1915 – February 24, 1971) was an American lyricist renowned for his contributions to big band and swing music during the 1940s and 1950s. Born in Duluth, Minnesota, Gallop initially worked as a surveyor and draftsman before making his mark in the music industry. His lyrical prowess is evident in collaborations with various composers, resulting in popular songs such as "Elmer's Tune," "No Good Man," and "Shoo Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy." Tragically, Gallop's life ended by suicide in Encino, California, in 1971. His legacy endures through the timeless quality of his contributions to American music.
