Marcus Vinícius da Cruz e Mello Moraes, better known as Vinícius de Moraes, was born on October 19, 1913, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was a multifaceted Brazilian artist, renowned as a poet, diplomat, lyricist, essayist, musician, singer, and playwright. Nicknamed "O Poetinha" ("The Little Poet"), Vinícius de Moraes played a crucial role in the creation and global introduction of bossa nova music, collaborating with notable musicians such as Antônio Carlos Jobim.

Vinícius grew up in a culturally rich environment, attending Afrânio Peixoto Primary School and later St. Ignatius, a Jesuit high school, where he was involved in choir and theatrical activities. He went on to study at the Faculty of Law at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, where he developed friendships with influential literary figures and began his journey as a poet.
