Dave Clark
David Clark, born on December 15, 1939, in Tottenham, Middlesex, England, is a prominent English musician, songwriter, record producer, and entrepreneur. He is best known as the leader, drummer, and manager of the 1960s beat group, the Dave Clark Five. This band was the first British Invasion group to follow the Beatles to the United States in 1964, achieving significant success with 14 top 20 hits in the U.S. and unseating the Beatles' "I Want to Hold Your Hand" from the number one spot in the UK singles charts with their song "Glad All Over." The Dave Clark Five were known for their frequent appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show and were considered serious rivals to the Beatles during their early success.

Clark's career began in the late 1950s when he taught himself to play the drums and formed a skiffle band to fundraise for his football team. This band evolved into the Dave Clark Five. After the band broke up in 1970, Clark stopped drumming in 1972 due to a tobogganing accident. He later wrote the science fiction stage musical "Time," which debuted in 1986 and featured a concept album with contributions from artists like Freddie Mercury and Stevie Wonder.

An astute businessman, Clark owns the rights to all the Dave Clark Five music masters and has been involved in television production and direction. In 2008, he and his band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Clark is also known for his entrepreneurial ventures and resides in a £12 million house in West London.
