Earl Brent
Earl Karl Brent (June 21, 1914 – July 8, 1977) was an American songwriter, lyricist, and composer, born in St. Louis, Missouri, and passed away in Hollywood, California. He is best known for co-writing the 1946 torch song "Angel Eyes" with Matt Dennis. Brent was a prolific contributor to film music during the 1940s, writing lyrics for songs in several films. Notable works include "Love Is Where You Find It" with Nacio Herb Brown for "A Date with Judy," and "Let There Be Music" with Yip Harburg. He also adapted classical compositions into songs, such as "Springtide," set to Grieg's "The Last Spring," and "Waltz Serenade," based on Tchaikovsky's "Valse" from Serenade for Strings. His work was featured in films like "Three Daring Daughters," "Anchors Aweigh," and "Love Laughs at Andy Hardy." Brent joined ASCAP in 1946 and his other songs include "How Strange," "Around the Corner," and "Say That We're Sweethearts Again."
