Jozef Zsapka, born on January 17, 1947, in Komárno, Czechoslovakia, is a distinguished Slovak classical guitarist and educator. He is celebrated as a foundational figure in Slovak guitar performance and has an extensive career as a soloist and ensemble performer. Zsapka has performed globally, sharing stages with prominent orchestras and participating in chamber music settings. He is also known for his collaboration with his wife, flutist Dagmar Zsapka, forming the renowned Duo Zsapka in 1979. This duo has significantly influenced Czechoslovak interpretative art and has performed in numerous countries, including Japan, the USA, and Australia.

Zsapka's contributions extend beyond performance; he is a respected teacher and music director. He founded and organizes the International Guitar Festival "Johann Kaspar Mertz" in Bratislava, a prestigious event attracting guitarists worldwide.
