Stanislav Gorkovenko
Stanislav Gorkovenko (30 January 1938 – 26 November 2018) was a distinguished Soviet and Russian conductor and songwriter, born in Baku, Azerbaijan. He was a graduate of both the Azerbaijan and Saint Petersburg Conservatories, where he studied under the tutelage of Nikolai Rabinovich. Gorkovenko led the Leningrad Music Hall Orchestra from 1967 to 1978 and subsequently became the head conductor of the Solovyov-Sedoi Gubernatorial Orchestra from 1978 onwards. His contributions to music include numerous songs and operas, particularly for children, with one of his operas, "Ognivo," being staged at the Samara Opera and Ballet Theatre. Throughout his career, Gorkovenko was recognized with several awards, including honors from the Government of St. Petersburg in 2001 and 2017, and he was awarded the Order of Honor and the Badge of Distinction for services to Saint Petersburg in 2008.
