Boris Abalyan
Boris Georgievich Abalyan, born on October 28, 1947, is a distinguished Russian choir conductor renowned for his contributions to choral music. He is the founder and chief conductor of the Lege Artis Chamber Choir, established in 1987. Abalyan's musical education includes graduating from the Mikhail Glinka Choral College and the Saint Petersburg Conservatory, where he also completed postgraduate studies. His leadership has propelled the Lege Artis Choir to international acclaim, winning multiple prestigious awards in international competitions throughout the 1990s.

Abalyan's repertoire focuses on both Russian and European choral works, with a particular emphasis on 20th-century composers such as Stravinsky, Debussy, Poulenc, Hindemith, and Penderecki, as well as lesser-known Russian composers. His dedication to the choral arts earned him the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation in 2005. Boris Abalyan is also frequently invited to serve as a juror at international music competitions, further cementing his status as a significant figure in the world of choral music.
