Vanilla Ice
Robert Matthew Van Winkle, known professionally as Vanilla Ice, was born on October 31, 1967, in Dallas, Texas. Raised between Dallas and Miami, he became the first white rapper to achieve major commercial success with his 1990 hit "Ice Ice Baby," which topped the Billboard charts and broke racial barriers in the hip-hop genre. His debut album, "Hooked," was released on Ichiban Records and later reformatted as "To the Extreme" under SBK Records, becoming the fastest-selling hip-hop album of its time.

Vanilla Ice's rapid rise to fame was marked by a cameo in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze" and his own film, "Cool as Ice," though the latter was a box office failure. His career faced challenges due to media scrutiny over his background and exaggerated claims in his biography, leading to a decline in popularity. Despite this, he continued to reinvent himself, exploring genres like rap rock and nu metal with albums such as "Hard to Swallow" and "Bi-Polar."

In the 2000s, Vanilla Ice transitioned to television, appearing on reality shows like "The Surreal Life" and hosting "The Vanilla Ice Project" on the DIY Network. He also ventured into motocross racing and real estate. Despite never recapturing his early success, Vanilla Ice remains an active figure in the entertainment industry.
