Eric Davoust
Éric François Jacques Davoust was a distinguished French pianist and educator, born on July 28, 1960, in Rennes, France. He passed away on May 7, 2024, in Reims at the age of 63. A product of the prestigious École normale de musique de Paris, Davoust was celebrated for his mastery of the piano, earning the concert license with unanimous jury commendation at a young age. At just fifteen, he won the international Alex de Vries prize, marking the beginning of his illustrious career.

Throughout his life, Davoust was deeply committed to music education. He taught at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz from 1999 to 2002 and later at the Conservatoire à rayonnement régional de Reims. He also served as the director of the Épernay music school for nearly a decade until November 2020, where he significantly contributed to the musical community by transforming the school's orchestra into a symphonic ensemble.

In addition to his teaching, Davoust was a celebrated concert pianist, known for his exceptional musical sensitivity and flawless technique. He was particularly admired in Asia and had been recognized in prestigious competitions such as the Chopin, Cziffra, and Alex de Vries contests. His planned performance on May 11, 2024, in Vannes, where he was to play works by Beethoven, Franck, and Liszt, was a testament to his enduring influence and artistry.
