Deanna Durbin
Deanna Durbin (1921-2013) was an actress known for her roles in musical comedy films. She gained fame at the age of 14 when she starred in the 1936 film "Three Smart Girls," which highlighted her high, light soprano voice. This film was a significant success, earning a nomination for the Oscar for Best Picture and playing a crucial role in saving Universal Studios from financial difficulties. In 1938, she received a special Oscar alongside Mickey Rooney. Despite her success, Durbin became dissatisfied with the repetitive and wholesome roles she was given and chose to retire from show business in 1948.
