David Meece
David Meece, born on May 26, 1952, in Humble, Texas, is an American contemporary Christian musician known for his significant contributions to the genre. Meece's early life was marked by challenges, including an abusive and alcoholic father, which led him to find solace in playing the piano. By his mid-teens, he was already touring in Europe and the US.

Meece pursued formal music education at the Peabody Conservatory of Music in Baltimore, where he met his wife, Debbie, a viola player. During his time at Peabody, he experienced a religious conversion, dedicating his life to Jesus and starting to write songs that reflected his Christian beliefs, often blending classical influences with pop melodies.

His music career took off when he signed with Myrrh Records in 1976, releasing his debut album "David." Over the years, Meece became a prominent figure in the Christian music industry, releasing ten albums between 1976 and 1993. He is best known for his song "We Are the Reason," which has been covered by over 200 artists in multiple languages. His collaboration with Canadian songwriter and producer Gino Vannelli on albums like "Chronology" and "Candle In the Rain" further solidified his reputation.

Meece's classical training is evident in his music, often incorporating pieces of classical piano works into his songs. He was invited to participate in Billy Graham crusades and other outreach programs, and his contributions to Christian music were recognized with his induction into the Christian Music Hall of Fame in 2008. He also received the 2009 Visionary Award as an Inspirational Male Soloist.

David Meece's discography includes notable albums such as "Count the Cost," "7," "Learning to Trust," and "Once in a Lifetime," among others. His influence in the contemporary Christian music scene remains significant, with a career spanning several decades.
