Oakley Haldeman
Oakley W. Haldeman (July 17, 1909 – December 17, 1986) was an American songwriter and composer known for his contributions to popular music, including the classic holiday song "Here Comes Santa Claus." Born in California to Catherine (Oakley) and Clarence Edward Haldeman, he became a prominent figure in the music industry, joining the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1949. Haldeman's repertoire includes notable songs such as "Brush Those Tears From Your Eyes," "I Wish I Had Never Met Sunshine," "Tho' I Tried," "Pretty Mary," "Texas Polka," "Honey Child," "Vic'try Train," "Last Mile," and "Texans Never Cry."

Haldeman played a significant role as the head of Gene Autry's music publishing company. It was during his tenure there that he composed the music for "Here Comes Santa Claus," a song inspired by Autry's experience at a Christmas parade. This song became a holiday staple, further cementing Haldeman's legacy in the music world. He passed away at the age of 77, leaving behind a lasting impact on American music.
