Viacheslav Lupachev
Viacheslav Lupachev (1950, Novosibirsk – 2015, St. Petersburg) was an Honored Artist of Russia and a renowned musician who served at the Mariinsky Theatre for over 30 years. He was celebrated for his outstanding spirituality and patriotic commitment, playing a significant role in the modern history of the Mariinsky Theatre. A close ally of Valery Gergiev, Lupachev led numerous classical music projects across Russia, including in Vyborg, Novgorod, Ivangorod, and Tikhvin. He was committed to fostering future generations of musicians, initiating projects such as the Open Air Opera at Vyborg Castle and the rehabilitation of the Song Festival Grounds, which began hosting festivals again in 2010. To continue his legacy, the Viacheslav Lupachev Foundation was established in Vyborg, supporting young musicians and organizing concerts, opera performances, and festivals.
