Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra
The Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra, officially known as the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, is a distinguished Russian symphony orchestra based in the Novosibirsk Philharmonic. Founded in 1956 by the esteemed conductor Arnold Katz, the orchestra has become a cultural treasure of Novosibirsk, Siberia, and Russia as a whole. It earned the title "academic" in 1982, acknowledging its significant contributions to the arts.

Under the leadership of Arnold Katz until his passing in 2007, the orchestra established a reputation for excellence, embarking on extensive tours across the USSR, Europe, and Japan. Following Katz, the orchestra was led by Lithuanian conductor Gintaras Rinkevičius from 2007 to 2016, and later by Thomas Sanderling from 2017 to 2022. Currently, Dimitris Botinis serves as the artistic director and chief conductor.

The orchestra has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the Order of Lomonosov in 2006 for its artistic achievements and its 50th anniversary, as well as the Philharmonic Prize "Golden Key-2022" for its cultural contributions to the Novosibirsk region. Known for its innovative programming and collaborations with international artists, the orchestra continues to perform widely, maintaining a prominent position in the hierarchy of Russian symphony orchestras.
