Chorus and Orchestra of Yekaterinburg opera theatre                                                    
                        
                            The Chorus and Orchestra of the Yekaterinburg Opera Theatre, known as the Yekaterinburg Philharmonic Choir, was founded in 2008 and comprises 60 professional musicians. The ensemble presents approximately 50 concerts annually, showcasing a diverse repertoire that includes large-scale works such as requiems by Mozart, Verdi, Fauré, Berlioz, Schnittke, and Sylvestrov; magnificats by J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach; Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, Britten’s Spring Symphony, Orff’s Carmina Burana, and many others. Under the direction of Andrei Petrenko, the choir has performed extensively across Russia and internationally in countries like France, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Denmark, Japan, and China. It has participated in prestigious festivals such as Beethovenfest, La Roque d’Anthéron, and La Folle Journée, with broadcasts on platforms like ARTE and WDR.
The choir has collaborated with renowned conductors including Dmitry Kitayenko, Krzysztof Penderecki, and Valery Gergiev, as well as orchestras such as the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra. Their performances have graced notable venues like the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow, the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg.
