Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra, born Francis Albert Sinatra on December 12, 1915, in Hoboken, New Jersey, was an iconic American singer and actor, renowned as one of the greatest American singers of 20th-century popular music. He passed away on May 14, 1998, in Los Angeles, California. Sinatra's father, Martin, was a tavern owner and part-time prizefighter, while his mother, Natalie, known as "Dolly," was a significant influence in local politics and her son's life.

Inspired by Bing Crosby, Sinatra pursued a career in popular singing, joining the Hoboken Four, a local singing group that won a talent competition on Major Bowes’ Amateur Hour in 1935. Although the group disbanded, Sinatra's musical ambitions led him to sing with local dance bands and on radio broadcasts. In 1939, while performing at the Rustic Cabin in New Jersey, he was discovered by trumpeter Harry James and joined his band, resulting in 10 commercial recordings. Sinatra's reputation grew, and he soon joined Tommy Dorsey's band in December 1939, creating 83 commercial recordings from 1940 to 1942.

Sinatra's career was marked by his mastery of both ballads and up-tempo numbers, with arrangers tailoring their work to his unique vocal style. His influence and contributions to music and film were recognized with numerous awards, including Grammy Awards and the Kennedy Center Honors. Sinatra was married to notable figures such as Mia Farrow and Ava Gardner and had a daughter, Nancy Sinatra. His legacy continues to be celebrated as a defining figure in American entertainment.
